Cards for Soldiers
Send a Smile to a Service Member
During the 28th Annual LCI Congress, October 12–16, 2026, all attendees are invited to visit three Service Project Stations located throughout the event venue, including the Exhibit Hall, and write a New Year’s card for a U.S. service member stationed away from home.
Share a few words of gratitude, encouragement, or holiday cheer. Each card will be included in a care package sent overseas for the New Year, offering a simple but meaningful way to brighten someone’s day and put LCI’s core value of Respect for People into action.
Tips for a Meaningful Message
Dos:
Begin With a Warm Greeting
Try “Dear Warrior,” “Dear Hero,” or “Dear Service Member.”
Make It Personal
Your card may be one of the few personal messages the recipient receives during the holidays. Write from the heart, share an encouraging thought, or mention a favorite holiday tradition.
Express Your Gratitude
Even a simple “Thank you for your service” can mean a great deal.
Use Inclusive Language
Choose words that are welcoming and respectful of all backgrounds and beliefs.
Sign Off Thoughtfully
Include your first name and city and state (e.g., “Emily from Denver, Colorado”)

Include Political or Religious Messages
Keep your message positive, welcoming, and neutral.
Focus on Difficult or Distressing Topics
Choose encouraging words that help the recipient feel supported and appreciated.
Share Personal Contact Information
Refrain from including your address, phone number, email address, or social media information.
