LCI Service Project:
Cards for Soldiers

Send a Smile to a Service Member

Take a moment during Congress to bring a little light to someone far from home. Visit our Service Project station to write a short, heartfelt message for U.S. service members spending the holidays overseas.

  • What: Write New Year’s cards for soldiers serving away from home.
  • Who: All LCI Congress attendees are invited to participate.
  • When: During LCI Congress, October 20–24.
  • Where: Visit the Service Project Station in the Exhibit Hall.
  • Why: To share kindness and appreciation with those serving our country and to reflect LCI’s core value of Respect for People.
  • How: Stop by to write a card with holiday wishes, thoughtful messages, or words of encouragement. Cards will be included in care packages sent overseas for the New Year.
  • Impact: A simple way for our community to come together and make the world a better place.

Tips for a Meaningful Message

Dos:

Start with a Warm Greeting:
Use “Dear Warrior,” “Dear Hero,”
or “Dear Service Member.”

Make it Personal:
This may be the only holiday card they receive, so put your heart into it!
Share a story, memory, or holiday tradition.

Express Gratitude:
Even a simple “Thank you for your service”
goes a long way.
Be Inclusive:
Use language that respects all backgrounds
and beliefs.

Sign Off Thoughtfully:
Include your first name and city/state
(e.g., “Emily from Denver, CO.”)

Don’ts

Avoid Politics or Religion:
Keep messages positive and neutral.

Skip the Heavy Stuff:
Avoid sad or distressing topics.

Protect Your Privacy:
Refrain from including your address,
phone number, or social media information.
